How to Use the TALA 3 Piece Preserves, Conserves, and Pickles Jar Lid Set
Step 1: Preparing the Jars
- Ensure that your jars are clean and dry before use.
- Sterilize the jars by placing them in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
- Allow the jars to cool completely before filling them with your chosen preserves, conserves, or pickles.
Step 2: Filling the Jars
- Carefully fill each jar with your prepared preserves, conserves, or pickles.
- Leave a small gap (about 1/2 inch) at the top of the jar to allow for expansion.
Step 3: Sealing the Jars
- Place a lid from the TALA set onto each jar, ensuring it fits securely.
- Screw the metal band down until it is fingertip-tight, but not too tight.
Step 4: Processing the Jars
- Place the sealed jars back into the boiling water bath.
- Process according to your recipe’s specific time requirements for safe preservation.
Step 5: Cooling and Storing
- Remove the jars from the water bath and place them on a towel to cool.
- Check that each lid has sealed properly by pressing down in the center; it should not pop back.
- Store the jars in a cool, dark place until ready to use.
Additional Tips
- Always label your jars with the contents and date of preservation.
- Use the contents within one year for the best quality.
