How to Use the AMTECH Combination Stone 8″ / 200MM

Materials Needed

• AMTECH Combination Stone 8″ / 200MM
• Water or honing oil
• Cloth or paper towel
• Knife or tool to be sharpened

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Stone

1. Place the combination stone on a stable, flat surface.
2. Decide whether you will use water or honing oil. Apply a generous amount on the surface of the stone.
3. Allow the stone to absorb the liquid for a few minutes.

2. Sharpen the Tool

1. Hold the knife or tool at a 20-degree angle to the stone.
2. Begin with the coarse side of the combination stone for initial sharpening.
3. Move the blade across the stone in a sweeping motion, maintaining the angle. Start from the base of the blade and work towards the tip.
4. Repeat this process 5-10 times, depending on the dullness of the tool.

3. Hone the Tool

1. Flip the stone to the fine side for honing.
2. Repeat the same sweeping motion process, again keeping the 20-degree angle.
3. Continue honing until the blade becomes sharp to your satisfaction.

4. Clean Up

1. Wipe the blade with a cloth or paper towel to remove any metal particles.
2. Clean the stone by rinsing it with water and wiping it dry.
3. Store the combination stone in a dry place to prevent damage.
