Preparation
- Choose a well-ventilated area to work in.
- Lay down a drop cloth or old newspaper to protect the surrounding area from spills.
- Use painter’s tape to cover any edges or areas you do not want to paint.
- If the surface is rough, use sandpaper to smooth it out, then wipe it with a clean cloth to remove any dust.
Application
- Shake the paint can well before opening to ensure the paint is thoroughly mixed.
- Pour a small amount of paint into a paint tray if using a roller.
- Dip your paintbrush or roller into the paint, ensuring an even coat.
- Apply the paint evenly to the surface in long, smooth strokes.
- Allow the first coat to dry completely. This typically takes a short time, but refer to the can for specific drying times.
- Apply a second coat if necessary for better coverage and finish.
- Remove the painter’s tape carefully before the paint completely dries to avoid peeling off any paint.
Finishing
- Allow the painted surface to cure for at least 24 hours before using it as a blackboard.
