How to Use the Beaufort Plastic Pudding Steamer Basin 1.1L
Preparation
- Gather all your pudding ingredients and follow your recipe.
- Grease the inside of the pudding steamer basin lightly with butter or oil to prevent sticking.
Filling the Basin
- Pour the prepared pudding mixture into the basin, leaving some space at the top for expansion.
- Cover the pudding with a layer of parchment paper or foil, securing it with string or an elastic band around the rim.
Steaming the Pudding
- Place a trivet or an upturned saucer in the bottom of a large pot to elevate the basin.
- Fill the pot with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the basin.
- Bring the water to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Carefully place the basin on the trivet or saucer in the pot.
- Cover the pot with a tight-fitting lid to maintain steam.
- Steam the pudding according to your recipe’s instructions, usually for 1-2 hours.
- Check occasionally to ensure the water level stays consistent, adding more boiling water as needed.
Removing and Serving the Pudding
- Once the pudding is cooked, carefully remove the basin from the pot using oven mitts.
- Let it cool slightly before removing the cover.
- Run a knife around the edge of the pudding to loosen it.
- Invert the basin onto a serving plate and gently tap to release the pudding.
- Serve the pudding warm with your choice of accompaniments.
